Our specialized team includes fire and explosion engineers, certified under NFPA 921, “Guide to Fire and Explosion Investigation” and NFPA 1033, “Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigators”.
We have the equipment necessary to perform non-destructive testing of evidence, both on-site and at our secure evidence lock-up and laboratory facilities. This includes X-ray analysis, critical for the examination of electrical and gas components, and a flexible video borescope to examine concealed spaces, vents and chimneys.
Our comprehensive approach includes:
- Securing the fire scene, including security personnel when required
- Interviewing witnesses and fire fighters and recording all events
- Diagramming and photographing the scene
- Noting burn qualities and burn/arc patterns
- Inspecting objects and substances near the point of fire origin
- Collecting and preserving samples
- Assessing compliance with Codes and Standards
- Analyzing laboratory test results
- Determining whether cause is incendiary or accidental
